A federal income tax estimate, worked line by line

Enter your paychecks and other income, and Casharchy works out a federal estimate for the 2026 tax year one line at a time, so you can see where each number comes from.

Federal Tax worksheet: income sources and the worksheet lines
Sample household figures.

A worksheet you can follow

The worksheet runs in order: income from each source, adjustments, adjusted gross income, the standard and QBI deductions, tax on the graduated brackets, what has been paid through withholding, and the balance left to pay or refund. The cards at the top use the same calculation.

Sources and paychecks

Add each income source and its paychecks, and business income with its deductions. On the paid plan, an AI import reads paychecks for you. SEP contributions are shown separately, and the formula maximum is shown next to the amount you enter. An HSA amount above the family limit or a Traditional IRA amount in the phase-out range gets a note.

A planning estimate

The worksheet and the PDF say it plainly: this is a planning estimate, not tax advice or a return. It helps you see during the year whether withholding is on track.
