Casharchy vs Simplifi: a Simplifi alternative with a free plan
Simplifi by Quicken is a spending plan with projected cash flow for each account. Casharchy is a checking forecast with budgets, investments, debt, net worth and a tax estimate beside it. Here is how they compare, using Quicken’s own pages.
Feature by feature
| Feature | Casharchy | Simplifi |

| Bank connections | Read-only connections through Plaid on the paid plan ($8 a month). Every tab also works with figures you enter or import. | 14,000+ institutions in the US and Canada (source) |
| Investments | Holdings across every brokerage, retirement and HSA account, combined by position and category and measured against targets you set. | Portfolio across retirement and brokerage accounts with quotes, cost basis and returns (source) |

| Debt payoff | A payoff schedule for each mortgage, loan and card from your payment and any extra principal. | Loan and liability tracking; no separate payoff planner found (source) |
| Net worth | A balance sheet of every account, asset and debt, with saved snapshots over time. | Assets minus liabilities over time (source) |
| Tax estimate | A federal tax worksheet from the paychecks and income you enter (a planning estimate, not tax advice). | Not offered |

Moving from Simplifi to Casharchy
- In Simplifi on the web, open Transactions, filter to the accounts you want, then use the three-dot menu and Export to CSV (source).
- In Casharchy, open Spending and press Add Transaction, then choose Paste CSV (bulk import).
- Paste the file’s contents or choose the file. Dates, descriptions, amounts, categories and account names are read from the header row.
- Check the preview: money out shows as negative. Rows that match a transaction you already have (same amount within two days) are skipped, and any category Casharchy doesn’t know gets a picker.
- Press Import. The whole file is saved at once as one step you can Undo.
To keep split categories, turn on Show split transactions in Simplifi’s column settings before exporting; Casharchy imports each line as its own transaction, and you can split a purchase again in Spending.
Questions from Simplifi users
How is Casharchy’s forecast different from Projected Cash Flow?
Both start from today’s balance and add what’s coming. In Casharchy the forecast is the ledger itself: future rows are ordinary transactions you can edit, or match to the bank when they happen, and Spending counts them as Projected in the month’s budget.
Does Casharchy have a phone app?
Casharchy runs in the browser, including on a phone, with a layout built for small screens: a day-by-day ledger, quick add and the same tabs. There is no app-store app; Simplifi has one for iPhone and Android.
What does the free plan leave out?
Bank connections and the AI tools. Everything else, every tab, imports, reports and encrypted backups, works with the figures you enter yourself. Adding bank connections is $8 a month or $80 a year.
What Casharchy costs
Free when you enter figures by hand. Bank connections through Plaid and the AI tools are $8 a month, or $80 a year (2 months free). There is no trial clock: the free plan has every tab and stays free.
